Happy November, friends!
It’s so hard for me to believe that the year is almost over. It’s been said a million times, but time seriously flies way too fast.
I celebrated Halloween this weekend with chocolate, pumpkins, costumes, and lots of good eats. I like to say that Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are tied for my favorite holiday – so as sad as I am for the spooky holiday to come to a close, I know there is much more fun to come.
Speaking of which – I have officially made my Christmas wish list and sent it to Santa. It consists of one item – a new camera! I have always been an iPhone photographer, so I’m really looking forward to learning more about photography, and hopefully kicking the blog up a notch with some better photos!
Anyways – I wanted to do another weekend-in-photos post, including a smoothie recipe!
After work on Friday, Blake and I had a sushi and pumpkin carving date.
We headed to an awesome sushi spot in our area called The Orient Express. The restaurant is actually in an old train car, which gives it a ton of character. We split 3 rolls and a seaweed salad – all of which were excellent!
Don’t ya just love his smile? I’m quite the pumpkin artist.
I woke up on Saturday seriously craving a smoothie, so I got creative and whipped up something festive. Since it was Halloween, I decided to dub this the Spiced Pear “Green Monster” Smoothie.
Into the blender went:
- 2/3 of a frozen pear
- 1 frozen banana
- Frozen spinach
- 1/2 scoop Vega One Vanilla Protein & Greens
- A spoonful of almond butter
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
The result was a deliciously festive and creamy green smoothie. I topped mine with Purely Elizabeth blueberry hemp granola, hemp hearts, and a couple blackberries.
The rest of the day included an easy two mile run, running errands (cough costume shopping cough), lunch at Ray’s on the River, and a Halloween party!
It was a blast!
Despite the dreary weather, Sunday morning I woke up craving another smoothie bowl.
I’m currently reading In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware. I’m only 10% in, but am already hooked! I can’t wait to finish so I can post a review on the blog.
After breakfast and catching up on Scandal, I took an 11:00am Pure Barre class that kicked my tush in the best way. It was one of the hardest abs sections I’ve taken in a while!
I obviously had to refuel with a delicious breakfast-themed lunch.
I cooked up a turmeric egg scramble with 2 eggs, kale, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts.
Plus avocado toast, because AVOCADO TOAST.
The rest of the day included grocery shopping, catching up on more TV shows, and cleaning/laundry/food-prepping for the week.
And that’s a wrap!
What was the highlight of your weekend?
Did you dress up for Halloween?
