Hi everyone! Happy Friday Eve 🙂
As some of you may have seen on Instagram, my smoothie this morning was the most beautiful shade of purple. I swear, I spent a solid two minutes mesmerized by the color.
What a dream boat.
You can almost always count on my breakfast to be a fully-loaded bowl of oatmeal or a smoothie. Since temperatures have been creeping up in the past few months, smoothies have been taking over my morning meal. They’re so easy to make, and with so many possible combinations, they’re pretty hard to get sick of.
Into the blender for this perfectly purple beauty went frozen spinach, a frozen banana, a handful of frozen strawberries, and a bunch of frozen blueberries. Besides fruit, I like to add a little somethin’ extra to the mix to make it more filling and satisfying. Today I added in a scoop of Vega One vanilla protein powder, a handful of raw oats, and cinnamon.
Once I had all my ingredients in the blender, I added a four-second count pour of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I like my smoothies to be super thick, so I can eat them in a bowl with a spoon. I find that four seconds is the perfect amount of time to get things moving, then I add additional splashes as necessary to get things combined. Scientific? No. Efficient? Yes. 😉
Once this beauty was in the bowl, I added some toppings. Trust me on this guys – toppings make ALL the difference. So many textures, flavors, and health benefits in one place. Today’s contenders were a spoonful of hemp seeds, Purely Elizabeth blueberry hemp granola (Best granola brand. Period.), and a big drizzle Trader Joe’s creamy almond butter.
Also, please text, call, message, whatever about things you’d like to see on here!
Happy smoothie-making 🙂
